that’s lame if it’s a dream. i think we’ll find out there was a jumper (possibly with a connection to dexter) at the beginning of next season, which completes trinity’s final cycle. 10 year old abducted (albeit didn’t die), bathtub murder, jumper, father beat to death w/ hammer. very seven-esque.
Rita didn’t fit Trinity’s profile. It’s supposed to be a mother of 2. She has 3 kids. He killed Rita because of Dexter, not for the cycle. He was just making sure his last kill would strike close to home for Dexter.

I watched that ending like 7 times and I still cant believe it. Especially how calm Dex stays. Why isnt he bursting into tears or something? And the whole Batista/Laguerda thing proved to be a pointless waste of time.

i still maintain that the baby is too young to have that imprinted in his psyche. dexter was older when he was “born in blood” but im pretty sure its impossible to form memories at that baby’s age (not even 1!).

Not happy about Rita being dead….after my mouth closed i immediately googled “wtf just happened; Dexter Season 4 ending” and here i am.
I’m a bit devastated….i love Dexter so much….and i can live happily knowing everything is working out for him…you know, Dexter comes out on top no matter what…so wtf just happened? Season 5 is gonna be all gloomy and dark…Dexter is a light-hearted series….he’s the good serial killer. How the hell is he going to manage without Rita? I don’t even want to imagine it. Also, dream endings are lame…so it’s not allowed to be that either. And Trinity didn’t have time or knowledge of his address…no way was it him.
I seriously just wanted to see him arrive into Rita’s arms for their honeymoon, the end. He’s been evolving into a family man and slowly leaving his dark passenger behind….he was choosing his new life and his new priorities. Now we’re at square 1…or worse.

Jules, trinity had plenty of time, he just didn’t have dexters real name, soon as he found out his true life, probubly took trinity no longer then a couple hours to figure it out, that episode was a span of 2 or 3 days, plus when trinity was on his death bed, he kept saying hints like ” whats done has been done” at 1st i was like wtf, but it made sense at the end.
also i love how ironic it is how that happened to dexter when he was a boy, it was an awesome twist. Rita dying made it all more dramatic, dexter will move on cause he has no emotions…
plus he cant leave his dark passenger till the series dies and there making too much money to cut it off.
plus people watch this show to be devastated not happy ending with a rainbow haha.

I CANNOT believe they killed off Rita. The show genuinely will suck ass next season now. Not because Rita was that great an addition, but she gave an innocence to Dexter and now with her kids in the mix and Dex being daddy, the storyline is going nowhere good in a hurry. Not to mention HES GOING TO BE THE MAIN SUSPECT. At the beginning of the episode Batista saw Dex talking to who he now knows as the Trinity killer which he might figure out, Dex was early to the trinity crime scene, Dex had a big ass blowout with Quinn saying specifically “don’t question the loyalty of my family today,” and who better to copycat the Trinity killings than an experienced forensic scientist whose been on the Trinity case for a year. And what’s going to be his alibi for the several hour gap between work and going home to find Rita (when he was killing Trinity). He’s so fucked its stupid. Next season is going to be immensely depressing. FUCK

So, dearly beloved Dexter, I love your show! I wish next season not to be the last! Come on producers, dont kill him yet!!! And you really put him in a rabbit hole with blood on his hands and FBI standing over him this time. It didnt look like another stupid Lundy on his case like Season 2 and he has another nemesis – Quinn again but he is not even half as fun as Doaks was! It is obvious Deborah will finally find out what Dex does, but will she love him still?

Rita was awesome, she represented the possibility of a normal life for Dexter…now that`s been taken away. Dexter is not supposed to be a single parent family…not happy.
And people do watch for a happy end…every series has ended happy until now. And Dexter does have emotion…hello happiness is an emotion…and he was pretty happy at the end of season 1 when he was imagining his parade.
they got so fuckin carried away with killing actual cast members. Next season Bautista should die, and then deb… what a desperate way to wrap up a season. It was shock value, im upset because where is ritas cab driver. did he say fuck it and leave. how did he find his real house… he only found debs. the crime was just to impossible and ironic. Trinity didnt know shit about dexters past so its pretty funny when his sons coverd in blood. Especially when that fag trinity is never leaving blood all over the floor for dexter to take pics of at work. I honestly think they made that shit up and debated it in the middle of filming.
I bet anything, the person who killed Rita was probably her first husband. Cuz remember Dexter found out about that, but they never explained it an further. They r goin to have to have something about him in the show cuz they would have never mentioned it then. Who else agrees with me?

whats gonna happen to Dex, are they gonna assume it’s the trinity killer and skip the investigation or are they gonna investigate him because he knew so much about the trinity killings and also, if it really was trinity, there was a lot of blood left at the scene, isn’t trinity compulsive? he would take his time to clean the scene.
