This is a new direction for Arctic Monkeys. But the sign of a lasting band is the willingness to take chances, to explore territory that might feel uncomfortable to longtime fans who are so accustomed to that “classic sound” that made them fall in love with the band in the first place.
But often times, it’s the albums that take those risks that turn out to be some of the most adored and praised.
Granted, I prefer the classic AM sound, but I appreciate the fact that they’re expanding instead of sticking to the tested formula just for the sake of record sales or singles or good reviews. Most importantly, this makes it clear that there is no lack of creative energy within the band.
I look forward to seeing this band continue to grow and contribute.
